Annotated screen dumps from the EtherDVB management interface
Device Summary
Each device that generates a stream that can be re-broadcast is listed in the device summary. At a glance this shows information such as whether a signal 'lock' is available and the bit rate coming from each device.
DVB Program
For each DVB program a status page is available that shows information about the streams that constitutes the program. The top third shows information about the program itself, while the middle third contains the details of each elementary stream that is within this program. In this example this is a Hi Definition program in 1280x720 resolution at just under 10 Mbit/sec sec. The lower box lists the stream targets that have been assigned, in this case none.
DVB Presets
All DVB tuners of the same type in the same chassis share a common preset database. These presets make it easy to switch between the available bouquets. Although the bouquets can be added individually, this is more easily accomplished by initiating a spectrum scan. This only takes a few minutes and will locate all the programs that are available in your area. Note that a spectrum scan is in progress the tuner is unavailable for streaming content.
Device Program Listing
Each individual DVB adapter can be tuned to a single bouquet. When a signal lock is acheived all the programs available are displayed. In the example below the adapter has been tuned to the ABC, which results in the ABC specific programs becoming available. The astute reader will notice that some programs shown aren't from the ABC. When a stream output is defined and it becomes unavailable it is not removed but goes into an 'Not Availbale' state until the program becomes available. For programs that have no defined stream output that become unavailable then they are removed from the display of programs.
Encoder
Similar to the DVB summary the Encoder summary displays similarly arranged information about the adapter being examined. In this example a program is being generated and streamed to a group (233.1.1.2).
Network Summary
The EtherDVB DVB to IP Gateway is a complete appliance so it is necessary to be able to configure the network interfaces using a web browser. In this screen capture one network interface is active and generating about 25Mb/sec of data.
System Status
The system status screen shows literally an overview of the system status at a glance. Note the green shading. It's possible to suspend all multicast streams with a single mouse click, so in the event it's necessary to stop all streams this can be achieved with minimal effort.
Network Configuration
This screen capture shows the network configuration screen. The primary interface (eth0) can be configured by either DHCP or a static IP address. All other interfaces must be configured using a static address.
